LATON
PARENTS CLUB

About Us
Laton Parents Club is led by four moms who are united in building up their small town school and community into a better place. Our goal is to work alongside and as partners with the school site to create an exciting and pleasurable experience filled with core memories that will last a lifetime.
While some of us are Laton natives whose roots run deep, our goal and passion to serve the kids of this community remain the same. Those of us who are natives still hold on to the Laton traditions and experiences we had as students ourselves.
While we fuel and support educational goals and achievements, we also understand that children are only children for so long. There is much that goes into building a well rounded child who will eventually become a well rounded adult. These short years should be a time of enjoyment, fun, with no hindrance regardless of a student's financial status. Laton Parents Club is devoted to making sure every student receives equal access and equal treatment, always working together with not only the school but the community as well.
It takes a village.
Love Always, Laton Parents Club

ABINA
PRESIDENT
My name is Corina Abina (formerly Sepulveda), but I always go by Cory. Raised in Laton from pre-school all the way up through 12th grade, I'm very familiar with LUSD as a student myself, and through various family members who have been employed by the district through the years. I am an alumni of the very first Dual Immersion group in 1996 to start as the “guinea pig pilot group” at Laton Elementary. I even met my husband on the Kindergarten field at Laton Elementary School when I was 4 years old.
Growing up in Laton is a unique experience. Even as a student I was extremely involved in the Spelling Bee, Peach Blossom, Talent Shows, Arriba Valle Central Specials, FFA, ASB, Upward Bound and so much more. Our Vice-President Brianna and I both spent much of our time at Laton High running events together even as teenagers!
After graduating from Laton High I went on to Fresno State where I received my B.S. in Child Development with a minor in Spanish, and my dual teaching credentials in Special Education and Multiple Subjects. I am units away from my Masters Degree. Although I have no intention of returning as a full time teacher anytime soon, I do enjoy the part-time flexibility of subbing as it fits my very busy schedule I have going on within my family and organizations I help run.
I have three children, twin boys who are 15 and my daughter who is 7. My sons were diagnosed with Autism when they were 2 years old, and due to that my involvement in social groups surrounding special needs is huge. When my daughter started Kindergarten in the Dual Immersion program at Laton, I realized in the time I had been away from the district the parents club program had disbanded. After a lot of hard work and no funds in hand, we managed to bring up the club to what it is today, only three short years later. We are now a non-profit 501 c(3), and that was no easy feat.
I thrive under pressure, and have always known a life of constant go-go-go. I enjoy giving back to my community, and I am involved with many other community groups within Laton and Hanford. Leading the Laton Parents Club means to me that I'm able to continue long held traditions in our community, and I understand the needs that surround our very unique town. I am extremely sentimental when it comes to our "Laton-ian" traditions, and I hope we are making our fellow community members proud. It's been a lot of unpaid hours, sweat and tears but it wouldn't be traded in for anything. The spirit of volunteerism and grateful smiling faces is what continues to fuel us all here at Laton Parents Club.

My Name is Brianna, but you can call me Brie. I have 1 son, Vincent, and recently adopted a very big puppy, Hawk.
Outside of the parent's club, I am an early childhood educator, which I have been for over 10 years. I have obtained an A.S. in early childhood and cultural anthropology from Fresno City College as well as a B.S. in Child Development from Fresno State.
I also serve on the board for Laton Youth Baseball and love helping my community. As a Laton native and alumni I enjoy giving back to the community that gave to me. I come from a long line of Laton community helpers so you can say it's in my blood.
My hobbies include listening to audiobooks, wrangling my son and puppy, and scouring the clearance section for some good deals.
I'm Ruby, I am a mother of two, and the newest member of Laton Parents Club.
My daughter is currently attending Laton Elementary School and my son is a busy toddler at home.
I recently become a stay at home mom, when teleworking as a Customer Representative for the IRS was no longer an option. During this time I also plan to finish school so that I can return to the dental workforce like I did before becoming a mom.
Doing “Mom Things” is my favorite, but I also enjoy reading, and attending book club meetings with my friends. Some other hobbies I enjoy are long walks, family trips, and concerts.
Although Laton Parents Club is new to me, I am hopeful to learn what is necessary from the other members who have worked so hard to create the club that it is today.
My name is Maricruz, but I normally go by Mari, I have 3 kids, Penelope, Ethan, & Levi.
Outside of parent's club, I am a personal assistant, and I also manage Children's Storybook Garden & Museum, and I'm part of their board as well.
I attended COS where I earned 2 degrees, one in paralegal studies and the other in administration of justice. I then transferred to Fresno State where I obtained a bachelor's in forensic behavioral science. & I'm currently in the process of returning to school.
Some of my hobbies are baking and crafting but I enjoy anything I can use as a creative outlet. I also enjoy my evenings and weekends at my kids extracurricular activities.
